Spring Clean Your Budget

Change rarely makes us feel comfortable. When winter sets in every year, we celebrate our rituals and holiday traditions, relishing the comfort we feel from the familiar. Often, change is the last thing on our minds. Thinking about leaving our comfortable winter bubble can be as jarring as leaving the warmth of your bed on a cold morning.

Then spring comes. Spring is the time we often embrace change. The birds are chirping outside our window and flowers are blooming. The trees start growing leaves and baby bunnies emerge from their underground burrows. As the days warm above freezing temperatures, we venture outside willingly for the first time in months, and the windows of our homes fly open to let in fresh, new air.

This is often the time when many of us embrace the concept of a big spring clean—out with the old, in with the new.

And still, it can be really uncomfortable to start something new—the sensation of apprehension mixed with excitement, with a dash of confusion on top. We’ve all had the experience of walking into a new place and almost feeling as though you’re walking into a surreal reality that isn’t your own. We’ve all started something new and thought to ourselves, “What if I fail?”

Changing how we approach our habits and routines might seem unpleasant, but it doesn’t have to be. Often, starting small, simple, and easy is the key to long-term goal achievement.

In the spirit of spring cleaning season, Jemma is introducing our Budget Spreadsheet. This is an opportunity to take this Spring and get your finances in order and to tackle some of the things you may have been putting off.
